The Staff Development Committee and the Department of Chinese Language orchestrated a professional development day for all teaching staff on 22 May 2023. Our students had a half school day but all staff were back on deck together after their hectic morning classes with professional learning for teaching excellence. A Chinese Language expert from Taiwan Mr. Alex Wang, spent an afternoon demonstrating an S2 Chinese class with the methodology MAPS. MAPS is a prototype of student-based teaching method, which encompasses four core elements: mind mapping, asking questions, presentation and scaffolding instruction.
Mr. Alex Wang is an award-winning educator in Taiwan. A winner of three Taiwanese teaching awards, Wang has in recent years also organized professional growth workshops for educators that have been attended by 20,000 teachers from Taiwan.
